Al-Hayari Assumes Role as CEO of Jordan Petroleum Refinery Company



Engineer Hassan Saud Al-Hayari officially assumed his duties as the Chief Executive Officer of the Jordan Petroleum Refinery Company starting today, Monday, December 1, 2024. He succeeds Engineer Abdul Karim Al-Alawin, who was elected as Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors after being elected as a board member of the company.

Engineer Al-Hayari holds a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Basra in Iraq, earned in 1993. He has held numerous positions and responsibilities in the energy sector and has been a member of several local and international committees.

With over 22 years of experience in the energy sector, Al-Hayari began his career at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources in 2001. During his tenure, he worked in the fields of oil, derivatives, and natural gas, taking on various responsibilities within the ministry, culminating in his role as Assistant Secretary-General for Energy Affairs.

In 2022, Al-Hayari participated as a member of the Royal Energy Committee within the National Economic Workshop titled "Transitioning to the Future: Unlocking Potential to Modernize the Economy." He also served as a board member of the Jordanian Logistics Company for Oil Facilities, Vice Chairman of the Board of the National Petroleum Company, and a member of both the Fuel Pricing Adjustment Committee and the Petroleum Operations Cost Recovery Committee.

Al-Hayari represented Jordan in numerous international forums and conferences. His roles included membership in the Fossil Fuel Experts Group under the Energy Committee of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), participation in the Mediterranean and European Natural Gas Regulators’ specialized natural gas group, and representation of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources in Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) meetings. Additionally, he was a member of the Jordanian team following up on the Iraqi oil export pipeline project through Jordanian territory to the Port of Aqaba.
